User accounts and access
The program supports registration, sign-in, user profiles, account settings and the administrator panel. The system allows many people to work in one environment, with separate roles and permissions.
ENTOMONE is already a working system for organising entomological data, field observations, photos, sites, databases and data publication. The following features are implemented and available in the current version of the program.
The program supports registration, sign-in, user profiles, account settings and the administrator panel. The system allows many people to work in one environment, with separate roles and permissions.
ENTOMONE supports multiple databases. A user can work in a selected database, switch between databases and use data access permissions. This makes it possible to manage separate projects, expeditions or data collections in one program, also in a group of several users.
The system allows users to add, edit, copy, view and delete observation records. Record lists, search, filtering, trash and record work status, such as In progress and Ready, are available.
The Label Generator is implemented. It supports preparing labels for records and specimens, selecting records, print settings, preview and label printing.
ENTOMONE includes a field-work mode for creating quick photographic notes. A user can add an observation, photo, note or breeding record in three clicks. The program reads GPS/EXIF data from a photo and allows the observation point to be set on the map.
The program handles photos assigned to records and several gallery views: species gallery, site gallery, recent observations and an aggregate gallery. This makes it possible to browse data not only in tables, but also visually.
Users can choose in Settings whether new JPG/JPEG photos are resized and compressed or saved as original phone/camera files without recompression or EXIF changes.
The record series form lets users enter one species list and shared visit details such as date, locality, site, accuracy, specimen count and note. ENTOMONE creates a separate observation record for each list item.
Google Drive integration works in the program. A user can connect their Google account, choose files and use a mechanism for storing media only on their own Google Drive, outside the main ENTOMONE server, which keeps them fully private.
Database Export is implemented in Settings. ENTOMONE prepares a ZIP package for databases assigned to the signed-in user, saves it to Google Drive and provides a private download for 24 hours. Exporting filtered records to a file on Google Drive is also available.
ENTOMONE supports GPS coordinates, location accuracy, sites, localities and maps. The UTM Map and map layers are also available, making it easier to analyse the distribution of observations.
The UTM Map Generator with base layers is already implemented. It supports work with the UTM grid, map base layers and auxiliary overlays, helping analyse the distribution of entomological data.
The program has its own dictionaries of species, plants and other supporting data, as well as an iNaturalist dictionary for organisms. Support for private user names and taxonomic links with iNaturalist helps users enter data quickly, organise identifications and prepare data for publication.
ENTOMONE supports iNaturalist account connection, taxon mapping, record readiness checks, publishing single observations, batch publishing and updating published observations.
The program has extensive Help in Polish and English. The interface supports language switching, and public pages of the program can be presented in PL and EN versions.
The Multi Upload form lets users add many photos at once and create records for them. ENTOMONE reads EXIF, GPS and date data, and records can start with an unidentified name.
A photo or other medium can have its own capture date and note, independently from the main record date.
Google Drive and MEGA are available as private solutions for storing user photos, attachments and files outside the main ENTOMONE server.
Users can enable, disable and adapt additional fields to their own workflow.
Larger functional areas that may eventually operate as separate ENTOMONE modules.
HTML and KML export for publication-ready data and points for transfer to mapping tools.
Assigning different locations to multiple photos and saving geographic data in bulk.
User-facing features saved for further design and implementation in the application.
The ability to record a voice note in the Field Notebook and save it as an audio file attachment linked to an observation record.
Combining developmental observations, such as larva, pupa and imago, into one history while preserving media and dates.
An additional attachment field on a record for adding PDF files, MP3 files, audio recordings and other file types, with description, comment, link and storage in the user cloud.
The ability to hide or show selected sections and fields on record cards, species cards and other views.
A separate ENTOMONE module and service for publishing selected user records as a public gallery with descriptions. Users will be able to choose records to make public and use ready-made website templates.
A planned module for keeping a detailed breeding log as a separate entity, distinct from an observation record. A breeding entry will include dated notes, photos and observations, can be linked to the initial record, for example a female laying eggs, and to specimen records obtained through breeding.
Connecting ENTOMONE with the EntomoLabels and Lepidoptera.eu ecosystem for labels, data, maps, taxonomy and publication.
