iNaturalist taxon autocomplete #
Autocomplete checks the local dictionary, the local iNaturalist cache and iNaturalist online. Record forms also show CoL XR results separately, even when iNaturalist has the same name. Only taxa present in ENTOMONE's active CoL XR release can be selected for a confirmed link; API-only results are not offered as ready to save. Local names remain primary.
CoL XR fallback #
A CoL XR result is labelled Catalogue of Life XR. Selecting it in a record form saves the local name and a confirmed link to the exact CoL XR taxon, with its family and tree. It does not assign an iNaturalist taxon_id or replace an existing iNaturalist link. Without a suitable iNaturalist link, publication may remain blocked.
Typing the same name without selecting a result does not create a CoL XR link or merge dictionary entries. Choose the result, save the record, and check its CoL XR status in My taxa. ENTOMONE does not automatically change your identification.
