Automatic site matching #
ENTOMONE can match a record to a site based on GPS and the site's radius.
How it works #
A candidate is a site with a GPS point and a radius. If the record's GPS falls within the site's radius, the record can be linked to it.
When several sites match #
The nearest centre wins. In a tie, the smaller radius is chosen, then the smaller ID. This gives a deterministic result.
Default radius #
In practice a radius of 1000 m is often used, but the radius should reflect the real extent of the site. Too large a radius can group records too widely.
