Coordinates and map #
Record GPS can come from a phone, from photo EXIF on desktop, or from a point set manually on the map. Radius means location accuracy and is saved together with the record or the site.
Open in the app #
GPS model: two sources, one field #
Record GPS can come from the photo's EXIF or from phone GPS. Both fill in the coordinates field and set the point on the map.
Manual point on the map #
The third way is to set the point manually. Clicking the map moves the point and updates the coordinates. This is useful for observations without a photo, or when you want to correct the location from EXIF.
Format and radius #
Coordinates are saved as decimal degrees. Radius is given in metres and means location accuracy. For a site, the radius describes the area used to match records; for a record, it means observation accuracy.
Automatic site recognition #
If the observation's GPS falls within a site's radius, the system can recognise that site. Details: Automatic site matching.
