Map layers and saved view #

Maps in ENTOMONE let you choose the base layer that best fits field work or checking data after you return from the field.

Layers #

Depending on the screen, available layers include the classic OpenStreetMap map, a satellite layer, OpenTopoMap and CyclOSM. The satellite layer helps you check the habitat and the shape of the terrain, while the topographic layers are convenient for working with mountains, valleys, roads and paths.

The chosen layer can be remembered on the user's account. This means that after refreshing the page, the map returns to the same style without you having to choose the base layer again.

Favourite view #

On maps with a star icon, you can save the current map centre and zoom level. A saved view takes priority over automatically fitting the map to all points.

Use this feature when you often work in one area, for example around a fixed research plot, a reserve, or your current expedition.

The UTM map supports a link to a specific point in the format:

utm.php?lat=<latitude>&lon=<longitude>&z=<zoom>

After opening such a link, ENTOMONE restores the marker, the coordinates and the UTM reading for that location.
