Add multiple observations without photos #

Use Add multiple records to enter observations from one visit quickly when the date and location are shared, the observed species are different, and no photos are being added. Each species is saved as a separate, independent record.

Typical scenario #

During one visit to a forest or meadow, you observe several different species. You know where and when the visit took place, but have no photos or do not need photos for these entries. Instead of starting every record from scratch, enter the shared details once and provide the species list.

How to add a series #

  1. Open Data > Add multiple records.
  2. Check the active Database and set the shared visit date.
  3. Set the location: enter coordinates, select a point on the map, or choose a site. Use Insert name from map when needed.
  4. Add species in either of two ways:
  • use the separate species fields; Add species creates another empty field,
  • paste a plain-text list into the TXT field; every non-empty line is treated as one species.
  1. Add shared quantity and notes only when they apply to the whole series, then save.

What is saved #

The date, locality, site (if selected), accuracy, quantity, comment and observer are shared across the series. The species is not shared: every indicated species creates its own observation record without media.

Before saving, ENTOMONE checks names and duplicates across the entire series. Correct an invalid or repeated item, then save the series again.

If an entered name has no exact dictionary match but resembles an existing taxon, ENTOMONE stops the save and displays Confirm possible spelling errors. For each suspicious item, select the suggested taxon or explicitly keep the entered name. No records are created before the entire list is confirmed; after confirmation, the canonical taxon is assigned to the corresponding record.
